Protecting a Public

Client Overview

A former Olympic athlete and fintech executive.

Client Stories

Background

This executive, based in Europe, was deeply concerned about the available private information on both him and his wife. Due to his status as an Olympic athlete, a high net-worth individual, and an executive, his risk exposure is increased. Special attention was paid to online evidence of cybersecurity or physical security concerns (such as doxing of home address or other details). A top concern expressed during the scoping call for this assessment was the security of personal and home details for our client.

Key Findings + Activities

As part of ProAlign’s Digital Footprint services, we investigated the subject's online profile using multiple OSINT investigative techniques and methods.

  • Some personally Identifiable Information (PII) was identified
  • Items which remained undiscoverable were middle name and home address
  • An excel document mentioning a potential renunciation of citizenship
  • Current and past employers and business associations
  • Listing of known associates
  • Social media profiles and online accounts, however it was not an extensive list
  • Multiple dark web breach data findings of subject’s personal details
  • One major finding:  The subject was specifically named in a series of posts scraped from paste sites such as Pastebin.com and JustPaste.it. The content contained elevated emotional and extreme content.

Outcome

ProAlign’s Digital Footprint provided greater awareness of PII information including both positive news on there being less personal information and negative news related to the major finding. The call to review and discuss our report also provided a much stronger knowledge of protecting online privacy.
